Let's go interactive ~ Fisher Price Online Activities and Games

P6PSC86V98NY

Hi There,
This week we spent quality time with fun filled, interactive games and activities at Fisher Price website. They have got bunches of interesting activities for infants, toddlers and pre-schoolers. We were playing infants games as I found the toddler's games sort of complex for Liya's age.

Laugh & Learn™ Animal Fun Game was her favorite. She loves reading and playing 'everything animals' and this was a perfect one for her.

[Tour with PL] Nonstop Brooklyn Tour

Next, we are going for a Brooklyn tour. This wasn't suppose to be a hop on hop off, but nonstop. It was extremely hot, Liya love playing with her goggles.

The final nonstop bus for Brookly tour was at 3.00 pm. We reached the boarding point by 2.00. We still have time left, then we saw a park and the ferry port to NJ and Statue of Liberty. Well, isn't it a good idea to spend few minutes there in the park, instead of standing in the bus waiting area, under the blazing sun...? Definitely yes, and we are in the park.

Book of the Week :: One little Two Little Three Little Apples....

Liya was reading another amazing book through the week -"One Little, Two Little, Three Little Apples" by Matt Ringler and Anne Kennedy.

Liya's chicken curry recipe..:)

The other day, Liya was busy with cooking; I asked what was she up to and replied she is preparing 'chicken curry'. Here is the recipe for her simple&delicious chicken curry.

Ingredients: 1) Few red, juicy strawberries 2) One cup of water 3) A pan (preferably Appam chatty)
*don't ask me where is the chicken. I am not the chef here*

Step 1: Crush the strawberries and add one bottle of mineral water (preferably purified water for infants)

Liya- the big sister

P6PSC86V98NY
Liya has become a big (cousin) sister. My sister delivered a baby boy on last Friday (IST and Thursday EST). Alhamdulillah {Thank God}. Since then Liya has been waiting to see the baby (over video chat). I clicked this photo, when baby 'came' for video chat *on third day of his birth*.

Learning Lingo :: English Alphabets

Getting Liya to begin with English wasn’t that hard, mainly because that’s the language she hears most. Especially, she has bunches of friends, who speak English and Hindi at playground. Mingling with multilingual friends and playing with them actually help kids to pick up new languages easily. Liya comes home every evening with at least one or two new English words, all those she learns during the 'sandbox' bash time.

Let's go interactive :: The Mum's and Kid's Playground

I personally do not encourage little munchkins to spend endless time watching TV or PC. Yes, I totally agree that there are bunches of interactive stories and learning stuffs, which help kids in 'learning by doing', brushing up their cognitive skills and of course blended with fun. Hence, I spend 10-15 minutes per day, exposing Liya to the astonishing world of interactive games and stories.

We are gonna share our experiences with 'learning by doing' activities, mostly once in a week. This week we were playing the The Mum's and Kid's Playground.

[Tour with PL] ~ NYC trip: Moving on to WTC

Hmmm, we're damn hungry. I had packed our lunch from home, the typical Hyderabadi Chicken Thahari. We ate it in this park and Liya spent some time with the pigeons and squirrels slithering over there.
Next, we are heading to World Trade Center. The skyscraper, which stood as the world's tallest building, at the time of its completion, well known for anyone across the globe after the September 11 attacks. The site is currently being rebuilt with six new skyscrapers and a memorial to the casualties of the attacks.

Book of the Week ~ Dog Wants to Play!

Dog Wants to PlayLet me introduce you another book, which Liya is fond of. The book is 'Dog wants to Play' by Christine McDonnell

About the book..? I picked it from West Seneca public library. Liya loves puppies and thought this would be an interesting read for her. I must say, my assumption was just right!

Learning Lingo - Arabic

We are born multilingual. We belong to India, which is the  motherland of linguistic and cultural diversity. Malayalam– our mother-tongue, English– a crucial language in our daily life. Hindi is another widely spoken language in India and vital when it comes to cities we live in. Arabic is an essential language in our life as we follow Islam. Our Salah and Duas (prayers) require good knowledge in Arabic, as well.

[Tour with PL] ~ Standing at ESB

I apologize for super delays in sharing our travel stories. You know how difficult it is to take time out for blogging when a toddler is around and especially when she has already started feeling that Mamma loves laptop more than her. :D
Okey, I was saying that we headed to Empire State Building. I guess, ESB again doesn't need a formal introduction. But for those who don't know much about it, let me share a glint on it.

Book of the week ~ Let's Count

Let's Count
Another Wednesday is here! This time we are not sharing a story but for a change we were COUNTING.. :)
We are 'learning' to count via different means, we count 1,2,3... as we take steps to our home, we count as we 'swing' on our favorite baby swing in the park, we count everything we come across in a group. This is Liya's first 'counting' book and let's see the details.

At NYC : Part 1

Pappa and girl in the shuttle
We took an early morning flight to JFK . Liya was little cranky as she was waken up too early and was given a shower. But she was all happy and thrilled as she was dressed up. We parked our car in the airport parking lot. It is around 1 mile away from airport. They offer free shuttle service to airport, so commuting was quite comfortable.
We landed JFK airport by 8.30 am. Liya was all peaceful and enjoyed her 'flight'. She killed her time by browsing through the TV screen in front of her; at times she watched cartoons as well. She conveyed 'Hi, bye, see you etc' to the passengers, entertained few of them with naughty deeds.

Fiery Friday :: Naughty Liya in this week

- The 'cleanliness princess' poured a cup of water on my external hard disk and 'cleaned it'. Then she wiped it and gave me a waggish look as if 'Mamma, I 've cleaned it for you. You don't keep things clean and organized'! This hard disk is the dedicated one for my MAC backups, which automatically backs up entire data from machine, including my official data for last 2 years. Being a 'blind' supporter of MAC, I keep removing data from machine. Now, think about my state of mind when I come across this situation? Thank God, entire data is safe! I had my heart beating abnormally when I was verifying it!

[Tour with PL] Tour de New York City ~ Before we started off

As  you already know, we got back from an awesome, unforgettable trip to NYC and DC.
"A traveler without observation is a bird without wings"- [Moslih Eddin Saadi]
Therefore, we will be glad to share with you on 'every bit' of our trip in coming posts. Read through and enjoy a 'virtual tour' through NYC.

About NYC: I am sure there needs no introduction about New York city. People around the globe must have heard of this enormous city at least once in their lifetime. The most populous city in USA, which lies at the mouth of the Hudson River.

Book of the week ~ One Rainy Day

Today, we are going to share with you the happenings in 'One rainy day'. Well, you must be having a lot of things popping up in your mind when you hear RAIN. Liya, being a little girl didn't know much 'about' rain except that she always enjoyed it as pattering of water (vella vella in her language) everywhere.
