Books We Read : The Berenstain Bears Don't Pollute (Anymore)

This week we chose to discuss the book The Berenstain Bears Don't Pollute (Anymore) (First Time Books(R)). The motive behind choosing this book is my discussion with Liya last week about the pollution in our country. Since she is very much concerned about doing something for the environment or worried about the country losing its face over dirty trashes, we decided to do something together.

Project 365 :: Week 8

Day 47: Dad was off to work for half a day. Never before this happened in our household on a Sunday. L missed dad and so made a card. She didn't know the spelling to write "I LOVE YOU PAPPA". So, I helped with spellings. Often, I wonder how deeply girls are connected with dads. Thank God for blessing us with a girl!

Little joys of life!

All these years
you have been reading to her...
modulating your voice...
pretending the character
making her think, laugh and learn
to make her curious and sometimes perplex
enjoying the fun
breaking the boundaries of imagination
helping her fall in love with books
listening to her imagination...

And there comes a day...

Hyderabad Preschools Review: Globe Tot'ers

My reviews on Hyderabad preschools- see here!

I often get personal emails from Hyderabad parents inquiring which school we finally settled with. Now that we've moved out from the school and the city and almost spend one term of Nursery and first term of Kindergarten 1 with Globe toters, I am gonna talk about our experience with the school. I know it's very late. Better late than never. Given that I have reviewed many schools in Hyderabad, from my personal point of view as a parent, I have never given a feedback on this school, here. Good things should be said and must be said louder. So, here you go.

Disclaimer: All that I scribble below are from our personal experience and are true incidents. I am a mother who trusted the school and sent a child there. I am neither asked nor paid for writing this note. Purely meant to help parents who are sailing in the same boat.

Home remedies for kids :: Chukku Kappi - Dry Ginger Coffee

Even though I am not basically against opting for allopathic medicines, we try to avoid it as much as possible. Having grown up in the Ayurvedic town of India, and belonging to a family where Ayurveda is practiced by many of my close relatives, I have always had an attachment towards Ayurveda.

Alhamdulillah, Thank God, to Liya we have hardly given any allopathic medicine in the past four years. Only once she had to go on antibiotics and which was right after our move back to India from the US and I failed to realized that her tonsils had swollen in such a way that she threw up even the water she sipped in.

10 things...

My bloggy friend sister Salma asked if I would like play along the "10 random things" she has been doing on her blog. I have made so many mommy bloggy friends over here. However, over the past year I have been in touch with them very few of them. Salma is the one of the few who keeps constant touch over emails. It was my pleasure to accept the invite and join in. IA, I hope I will be able to catch up with everyone, shortly!

To start with, here are 10 random things my daughter tells me everyday!

1. Mommy, I love you so much!
2. Momma, will you buy me "this...that?"
3. I am not a baby anymore!
4. Can I keep a share of this for Pappa?
5. I will do/choose it!
6. Why don't you join me to clean this messy house?
7. I love it, but I don't want it now! :P
8. You are my best friend, my sweet Momma!
9. I did that by mistake!
10. He said that.. he said this... she said that... she said this... then I said this...!!! :P

A littered Country and learning from my daughter!

The other day Liya and I were on our way back to home from school. She usually keeps talking throughout the drive. Unlike usual, she sounded very serious this time. This is how the conversation went.

L - "Momma! Today, Ma'm showed me a video of a country which is fully littered."
M - "Fully littered?"
L - "Yes, Fully littered by the people of that country. They throw plastics carelessly and the country has become very stinky and dirty. It's no more clean and safe."

She continued - "Do you know Momma, which country is that?"
M - "Hmm.. No, tell me please!"
L - "It's our own country- this country-  India! "

When she said this, I could feel the shadow of sadness in her voice.

Project 365 :: Week 6

Day 33: Lazy Sunday. Mummy and Girl are up to something- indeed in crafty way!
Day 34: Comparatively better floor today after girl's playtime. What I as a Work-at-home-Mum, left with in the evening is a happy child and a messed up house. The whole effort my housemaid puts in to keep the house clean lasts only few hours - exactly at 1.30 pm, things start looking different, because girl gets back home from school after 1.00.

However, I am proud to say that this messy home and happy child is the factors behind my success as a WAHM..:)
